Job Summary
We are seeking a thoughtful and dedicated AI Ethicist to ensure that our artificial intelligence technologies are designed, developed, and deployed in an ethical, responsible, and socially beneficial manner. As an AI Ethicist, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing the ethical implications of AI systems, fostering accountability, and guiding the organization in implementing AI practices that respect human rights, privacy, fairness, and transparency.
Key Responsibilities
Ethical Oversight
- Evaluate the ethical implications of AI systems and recommend strategies to mitigate risks such as bias, discrimination, or misuse.
- Establish and enforce ethical guidelines and standards for AI development and deployment.
- Conduct impact assessments to evaluate the societal, cultural, and environmental consequences of AI applications.
Policy Development & Governance
- Collaborate with leadership to establish AI governance frameworks that prioritize fairness, accountability, and transparency.
- Draft and implement internal policies to align AI practices with legal regulations, ethical principles, and industry standards.
Bias and Fairness Analysis
- Analyze datasets and models for potential bias or unfairness and suggest corrective measures.
- Work closely with data scientists and engineers to ensure AI models are equitable and inclusive.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, product, and technical teams, to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.
- Serve as an advocate for ethical AI practices when engaging with external stakeholders, such as regulators, customers, and partners.
Education and Training
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on ethical AI principles and practices.
- Promote a culture of ethical awareness within the organization.
Monitoring and Auditing
- Establish processes for continuous monitoring and auditing of AI systems to ensure compliance with ethical guidelines.
- Review and revise ethical policies and standards as AI technology and societal expectations evolve.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Ethics, Philosophy, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Law, Sociology, or a related field (PhD is a plus).
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in AI ethics, policy development, or a related field.
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies, algorithms, and their real-world applications.
- Knowledge of Standards: Understanding of ethical frameworks, AI governance practices, and regulations (e.g., GDPR, AI Act).
- Analytical Skills: Ability to evaluate the technical and societal implications of AI systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in AI ethics committees or contributing to industry standards.
- Familiarity with explainability (XAI), fairness metrics, and algorithmic transparency tools.
- Strong knowledge of privacy-preserving techniques, such as differential privacy or federated learning.
- Experience in public speaking, publishing, or thought leadership on AI ethics topics.
